Playing With Myself
The Pros And Cons of Being a One Man Band

I'm looking at my new bass, and thinking of how I'd spent last night practicing the actual Recess song on both guitars. That's electric guitar and bass guitar. To some degree, it's making the recording process longer. I have an extra instrument to practice with now, alongside the guitar and vocals. Some days, after typing for several hours at work and practicing two different guitars, my fingers just plain hurt.

Then again, the bass has helped me to write better guitar pieces, and in a shorter amount of time.. I'm not performing any wailing solos, but having a second angle to approach the writing process from has helped overcome some writer's block. Having a rhythm and a melody to build the guitar on has also added a couple of new nuances to my little arsenal. In that regard, it's made the writing process a little more efficient and effective.

I won't comment on vocals. Maybe someday I'll do what I did with guitar and drums and bass -- seek out basic help and go my own way with it.

A true MP3.COM jewel! MP3.com: Zombina & the Skeletones This isn't sarcasm, either. This is the kind of stuff I love to stumble across on that site. In fact, this is all of it put together. Their words are "Bubblegum horror punk." There's also a strong glam influence.

I think I just got wood listening to "Nobody Likes You." The song was that good.
